Briefing boards with credibility

A board-level discussion of GEO should focus on governance and assurance rather than visibility claims.

Directors should understand how the organisation is improving the integrity of its public information environment; where the upstream record is strong and where it remains weak; what risks exist from outdated claims, contested narratives or missing evidence; and what has been done to address those risks through better reference material, third-party validation and consistency controls.

Where commercial or reputational signals are moving, they should be reported with appropriate caution, making clear what can and cannot be claimed as causal.

The credibility test is straightforward. If the AI ecosystem changed materially tomorrow, would the organisation’s approach still make sense? If the answer is yes, GEO is being handled properly.
