Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Oasis have just embarked on their first tour featuring both Gallagher brothers since 2009. Since it kicked off in Cardiff on 4 July 2025, it’s been almost impossible to avoid the flood of PR stunts tied to the reunion.
In this blog post, we’re reviewing the best of the best.
“Aldeh”
Aldi, or “Aldeh” as it rebranded itself in a nod to the local accent, got in early with a regional stunt that landed national coverage. The discounter allegedly changed the name of its Bury New Road store in Prestwich, just down the road from Heaton Park where the band were set to play. Timed around the Cardiff concert, the stunt generated widespread social buzz and media coverage.
“Supernova” Champagne
Not content with one hit, Aldi followed up with a classic product stunt – limited-edition ‘Supernova Champagne’. A playful twist on Champagne Supernova, the bottles were sold at the same Bury New Road store ahead of the Heaton Park show. With only one per customer and an inevitable sell-out, it secured a second round of national headlines.
Lidl by Lidl raincoat
Lidl joined the party with its own product stunt, a branded ‘Lidl by Lidl’ raincoat. It riffed on both the band’s hit Little by Little and Liam’s fashion shoot last year, which fans joked resembled Lidl uniform. Covered by national media and a hit on social, the raincoat reportedly caused the supermarket’s online payment system to crash.
Asda’s lasagna
In a nod to Liam Gallagher’s long-running “LASAGNA” tweets, and a line from Digsy’s Diner (“What a life it would be/ If you could come to mine for tea/ I’ll pick you up at half past three/ We’ll have lasagna”), Asda commissioned a giant lasagna measuring 2ft wide and 9in long. Featuring Liam’s face burned into the top, the photo-led story generated widespread attention.
Iceland’s freebies for Liams and Noels
Iceland got involved with a name-based giveaway, offering free lasagnas to anyone named Liam or Noel who visited their stores on 11 and 12 July (the dates of the band’s first two Manchester shows).
The Co-op’s bucket hat giveaway
Ahead of the Manchester gig, Co-op promo staff appeared in Manchester’s Northern Quarter to hand out branded bucket hats to drinkers in Stevenson Square. It was a heatwave-friendly stunt on a day that saw temperatures reach 28°C.
Primark’s sibling rivalry stunt
Primark’s Market Street store in Manchester tapped into fans’ love of the Gallagher brothers and their infamous sibling rivalry. Shoppers were invited to enter through either the ‘Team Liam’ or ‘Team Noel’ door, with digital signage and counters tracking support. Located near the official merchandise stand, the activation performed well on social media and generated buzz in the city centre.
