Albino Squirrel and Journalism #fail

Albino Squirrel - On A Slow News DayVisitors to my blog might have seen my favourite non-news story of the week: the death of the Albino Squirrel in Dorking.

Firstly his death was picked up by the Dorking Advertiser, and boy did we scoff at the waste of printer’s ink.

Then the paper followed the story up with a claim asking, “was the squirrel murdered?”

Yesterday Five Live got on the case and now, as this picture shows, The Sun is covering the outpouring of “sorrow”.

Is a classic example of ‘churnalism’ in the British media or just a funny, light hearted story. You decide…

To me, I can’t get Monty Python’s dead parrot sketch out of my head.
