This is an interesting presentation looking at an inherent problem with Facebook Groups. I’d be interested in hearing the views of PR professionals, e.g. do you agree that this is a problem?.
Groups are great if all your contacts are in the same audience, either friends, or clients, … groups increases the visibility of a message. As long you are ready to show this image of yourself to *everyone*.
I agree with the analysis that if you have multiple audiences among your contacts you constantly need to manage your various audiences. Messages for clients do not always mix well with messages for investors, same with family and past relationships.
Thanks for sharing this. It shines a new light on the subject.
From the customer perspective, this could also reduce willingness to engage with brands via Facebook if they feel that this engagement is on display to allcomers, rather than contacts who might share appreciation of said brand.
